We are happy to announce that darktable 1.6.8 has been released.

The release notes and relevant downloads can be found attached to this git tag: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/releases/tag/release-1.6.8 Please only use our provided packages (“darktable-1.6.8.*” tar.xz and dmg) not the auto-created tarballs from github (“Source code”, zip and tar.gz). The latter are just git snapshots and will not work!   11. OS 10.8.5: Release 1.6.8 won't launch. Icon is jumping in the dock and ist jumping and jumping and jumping....... Older releases work very well.
  12. Not enough information. You can try moving away ~/.config/darktable and ~/.cache/darktable to see if it helps.

    ok, similar problem: darktable starts after double click (accd to activity monitor and is running w/ 0% CPU load) but does not "show" up - also not in the "TAB SWITCH ROW" as an icon.
    removing ~/.config/darktable and ~/.cache/darktable does not help.
    but: starting darktable after removing those dirs/files does not "recreate" them anew...

    systeminfo:

    os x 10.8.5 on a non-retina macbook pro 13" 16G RAM

    sofar darktable was running fine on this machine.

  15. Execute "killall -SEGV darktable-bin" from the Terminal after trying to start darktable and post the resulting crash log as a new bug report (http://redmine.darktable.org/projects/darktable/issues/new).
  16. Sorry, but I have no idea what's happening here and I can't reproduce since I've updated from 10.8 long time ago. Most likely changes in GTK between last 2 DT releases broke something.
  17. To narrow it down I can suggest to try the following though:
    * install DT 1.6.8, try starting it, eject the DMG;
    * download and mount DT 1.6.7 DMG;
    * run in Terminal "cp /{Volumes/darktable,Applications}/darktable.app/Contents/Resources/lib/libgtkmacintegration-gtk2.2.dylib";
    * try starting DT again.
    If unsuccessful - try the same with some other libraries that differ between versions (use "diff" to compare).

    Got "“darktable.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash." in return.
    Tried older versions down to 1.6.4 - no remedy.
    Go figure....

    Will try via Macports - maybe that works - if so, will report.

    How to load them? DT -> Lighttable -> Styles ( on the right side ) -> Import and then in Darkroom in the lower left side of the image ( just above the filmstrip ) the second icon, the one with circles. ;)

    Licaon_Kter: DTStyle has some nice styles, but overalll the quality is not that good: too many over the top presets. I would love to have more subtle, and "real", styles.

I'm aware of DTStyles and some of the styles found there are excellent, but being able, on top of that, to use the fine Hald CLUTs found at the G'MIC site (http://gmic.eu/film_emulation/), and others, too, including self-made ones, would be very convenient. I don't think this goes against the (commendable) DIY ideology of darktable any more than the present implementation of styles does.

    Allez, quelques petites choses qui me manquent encore un peu, histoire de faire la fine bouche : la possibilité de comparer deux, trois, quatre photos dans la table lumineuse, la gestion de deux écrans, la possibilité de faire des dossiers de styles plutôt que d'avoir une longue liste déroulante, et puis enfin la possibilité de faire des cessions de favoris différents suivant ce que je veux obtenir... et là franchement, tout serait parfait pour moi.

    First of all thank you for this software, i'm an old aperture user, and I'm looking for new applications to manage and editing my photos, not professional user.

    I have installed the 1.6.8 version, and I don't know why the application show the fonts and menus so big, that they don't fit into my screen. I'm using a MacMini with a LG TV like display using a 1920x1080 resolution.

    If anybody knows how to solve the problem, please leave me a reply.

  37. I am running Debian Jessie with backport. Installed 1.6.8 bpo from backport. When I tried to execute it, it has this error message
    "[init] database version of `library.db' is too new for this build of darktable. aborting
    ERROR : cannot open database"

    How can I correct this?
  38. That means that you used a development build with that library at least once. darktable updated it and that is not reversible. If you didn't use any new features in the processing of your images (which 1.6.8 wouldn't know) it should be safe to remove ~/.config/darktable/library.db and just reimport your raw files. All the processing is kept in the associated XMP files. You would however lose your custom module presets.
